Oversee the day to day operations of an internet based small business, whose primary function is to assist customers with the design and fabrication of custom made commemorative coins, medallions, race medals, and promotional items.  Duties include sales, ordering, graphic design, shipping / receiving, and accounts receivable.

Was laid off after the completion of Package 6 at Dulles International Airport and the reduction of force within Parsons Management Corp. I now share with my wife, the day to day operations of my internet based small business, whose primary function is to assist customers with the design and fabrication of custom made commemorative coins, medallions, ball caps, t-shirts and promotional items. 

 

2008 - 2009:

Senior Mechanical Inspector, Belstar, Inc.

I was placed with Parsons Management Corp. at Dulles International Airport as a Senior Mechanical Inspector, representing Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA). Duties include reviewing and verifying submittals, reviewing and answering RFIs, tracking man hours and materials, performing inspections during and after installation of the plumbing, heating, cooling, fire protection, HVAC and all other mechanical systems in the terminals, utility tunnels, and the new underground transportation system.  Other duties include the visual examination of welds as the program’s AWS CWI.  Filed electronic daily reports of all activity witnessed or inspections performed.

I was placed with the Pentagon Renovation Program, Arlington, VA.  Duties included developing ROMs and detailed estimates for various construction and renovation projects at the Pentagon, including civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, using Timberland software and R.S. Means data.  Reviewed contractor proposals for change orders, performed site surveys, developed independent government estimates, and supported the contracting officer during negotiations of the proposals.

Senior Mechanical Inspector for the Pentagon Renovation Project representing the Department of Defense.  Duties included reviewing and verifying submittals, reviewing and answering RFI’s, tracking man hours and materials, performing inspections during and after installation of the plumbing, heating, cooling, fire protection, HVAC and all other mechanical systems.  Other duties included troubleshooting mechanical systems and the visual examination of welds as the program’s AWS CWI.  First hand experience with catastrophe damage control, recovery, and reconstruction.  I was directly involved in the inspection of food preparation facilities, military operations and control centers, HEMP Rooms, and special ventilation systems, as well as millions of sq. ft. of skiff and general office space. Completed electronic daily reports of all activities witnessed and inspections performed.     

 

1994 - 2000: 

Steamfitter Foreman - Senior Certified Welding Inspector, Bell BCI

Responsible for the installation of 4’ and smaller piping systems at the National Institutes of Health, Bldg 11 Expansion Project, Central Utility Plant.  I performed visual inspection of each weld, maintained weld reports, developed weld maps, and scheduled/coordinated independent inspector.  Performed take offs of material, planned and estimated crew requirements for each phase of work to be performed.    Responsible for the installation of the mechanical systems at the TRI-SERVICE Clinic, a 40,000 sq. ft. medical/dental facility at the Pentagon.  At Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, S.C., the C-17 Hydrant and Refueling System, C-17 Nose Hanger, and the C-17 Engine Maintenance and Storage Facility, all pre-fabrication and weld mapping of over 6000 feet of underground 16” stainless steel piping, 2 pumping stations, the piping associated with the tank farm, as well as the heating, cooling, and steam piping and mechanical rooms of the two buildings.  In Oakridge, TN., a design/build nuclear waste disposal facility, was responsible for the coordination and construction of the contaminated resin receiving, storage, and processing area.  In Baltimore, MD., a chemical/fertilizer facility, using isometric drawings, was responsible for the completion of a main tower of the facility installing a wide variety of piping and components ranging from carbon and stainless steel to Teflon lined, steam jacketed and glass lined pipe.  In Manassas, VA., a semi-conductor manufacturing facility, I was responsible for installation of large and small bore steel and PVC piping, using standard blueprints, drawings, and job specifications. 

 

1990 - 1994:

Ship fitter/Welder Foreman, General Dynamics – Electric Boat Division

Responsible for scheduling workloads, job assignments, and supervising mechanics while providing technical guidance.  I ordered required parts and materials for upcoming work.  Certified as a visual, magnetic particle and dye penetrant weld inspector.  I supervised the construction of nuclear submarine hull components, ballast tank groups and Sections 2 & 4 of (10) 3 million gallon anaerobic digester tanks.

 

1981 - 1990:

Hull Maintenance Technician/Nuclear Components Welder First Class, U.S. Navy

Stationed at Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay, GA., trained TRF welders in the welding of all base metals and joint designs associated with the Trident Program and the Naval Nuclear Power Program, both piping and structural.  Aboard the USS Frank Cable, AS-40, was assigned as nuclear power plants components welder, responsible for removing, fitting, installing, and welding valves and piping associated with the nuclear reactor plants and their supporting systems in naval submarines and surface ships.  For 9 months served as Lead Hull Planner, responsible for planning and estimating job requests for man hours, costs, and material requirements.  Wrote step by step work procedures for all hull shops comprising of proper specifications, blueprints, and all other vital information needed to complete the job efficiently and safely.  Earned journeyman pipe fitter, ship fitter, high pressure welder, nuclear welder, and submarine repair NEC’s.
